Creative Embellishments has a monthly challenge and for April, this was the inspiration photo. When I saw it, I immediately thought of the tragic passing of Prince. I wouldn't really say I was a fan but I loved his '80's hits. "Let's Go Crazy" and "Raspberry Beret" are two of my faves.
So I had been wanting to do something purple and I'm still making sympathy cards...and that seemed fitting.
So here's the card I made for this challenge.
Purple Rain: From Creative Embellishments I used the chipboard window frame. I applied Versamark over it and covered it with Amythest Embossing powder (Stampendous) and Black Sparkle Embossing powder (Ranger). I glued that onto white cardstock and cut around it. I just colored in the windows with Distress Markers (dusty concord, seedless preserves, shaded lilac, milled lavender). I covered a card base with the music paper and added the black accents to frame it. I glued down the window and added Glossy Accents (Ranger) to each piece to give it a stained glass look. I inked a die-cut butterfly from my stash with Wilted Violet Distress Ink and wrote the words from "Purple Rain" with a Xfine black Sharpie. Did the same for my sentiment (My Favorite Things).
It's not often that I get so inspired that I literally know exactly what I need to do before I sit down at the craft table but this one hit me that way.
Have a good weekend!

"Dearly Beloved, we are gathered here today to get through this thing called Life.
Electric word Life, it means forever and that's a mighty long time
but I'm here to tell ya, there's something else...
The Afterworld.
A world of never ending happiness, you can always see the sun. Day or night.
So when you call up that shrink in Beverly Hills...you know the one..."
