I haven't made tags in awhile. So when I saw that the Lost Coast Designs challenge was to make a tag, I saw a perfect opportunity to get back into the swing of it.
And DAMN, did I have fun!!! Really, I can't believe I haven't made tags in so long. It's just such a great little thing that you can COMPLETE in a sitting. The best thing about tags is that they lend themselves so well as a backdrop for rubber stamp images. When I get bored or tired of making cards, TAGS can really excite me!
So here's a tag I made for the Challenge:
Bad News Crow: This crow image from Lost Coast is one of my favorite stamps...EVAh! If you follow this blog, you've probably seen it before...and before that...and maybe...
I use it in a lot of Halloween stuff and Poe related things but it doesn't have to be spooky. The words are from an old folklore rhyme about crows. (After finishing this tag, I now have the idea to make a tag for all the numbers in the rhyme!)
Besides the main image, the background text is also from Lost Coast from one of the background ATC sets.
Here's how I made the tag:
I started with a mop-up tag which had ColorBox Spritzer (Glacier Bay) on it. I used the text stamp with gelato (Black Cherry) and lots of water. Maybe too much water...none of the text was discernible. I only ended up with purple watery lines. (But I liked it!) I stamped the bird with black StazOn and then masked it to stamp the background text again (with black StazOn). I outlined the bird with a white Signo Uniball pen and cut out my words from an index card. Using gelato (iced coffee), I distressed the edges of the words then adhered them with white glue. Lastly, I went around the perimeter of the tag with more gelato (black cherry) to frame it.
I had a great feeling of accomplishment today! And...only 3-4 pages left in the Art Journal to complete! I'll have a post for the last of them soon!
Thanks for checking in!
