Lost Coast Designs Challenge: ATC

Decided to just add this to the ATC Challenge over at Lost Coast Designs. They are adding THIS BLOG as the new place for their challenges and are looking for participants to use some new stamps. You can bet that I'm eyeballing a few of them!

Our Brand New Event & Challenge Blog is HERE!

So the challenge is to make an ATC: Artist Trading Card. These cards are 2.5 X 3.5" (Baseball cards, some playing cards are this size.) and they are traded among artists, not sold. (Some cards are sold as ACEOs, Art Card, Editions and Originals.)

So here's my card:

Feather Bird:   This is a two layer card held together in the corners by small brads. The bottom layer is white cardstock with the Bubbles Background stamp from LCD stamped in StazOn Azure blue. The top layer is acetate. On one side of the acetate the bird (also LCD) is stamped in StazOn Jet Black and on the other side is a combination of three different colors of Izink. I was experimenting with the Izink and while this wasn't the effect I was going for (the Izink was much thicker than I anticipated) I liked the result enough to use it. I attached the two cards together and added a purple rhinestone for an eye.

I used 3-4 colors of Izink: Volubilus, Cactus, Topaz, Amethyst. I dropped them onto my non-stick craft sheet and then smooshed the acetate into it. I didn't add any water as I wanted it to be pretty opaque but that really didn't happen. Izink has to be layered rather thickly to be opaque and any water added to it will make it even more translucent. I was trying to use it like an ink but it seems to work better when I use it like a paint. It has a FANTASTIC shimmer to it and I do really like it! It's very similar in character to Silks Acrylic paint.

Enjoy your day and thanks for taking a peek at my ATC.
