The Peacock Card

I had been looking for a peacock stamp for a while. I was being a bit particular about it. I wanted one with a good tail for coloring but not opened up. I wanted it to be large enough to be the focal point of a card and I didn't want it to be too cutesy or cartoonish. But I also didn't want it so detailed that any coloring of the image would wipe it away. Who knew it would be so tough to find?

Then, I saw the Unity Stamps had the Pretty as a Peacock set. And yup, that was pretty much what I wanted. So I made some cards.

I also saw that Creative Embellishments (who make fantastic chipboard laser die-cuts) had a challenge with a peacock. You can find it HERE.
So naturally, I couldn't wait to get started on my day off!
My favorite thing to do with chipboard is to emboss it. I use a Versamark ink pad and cover the chipboard piece with ink. I sprinkle embossing powder over the top and melt with a heat gun.

The Peacock:  I used Zig Real Brush markers on watercolor paper to color in the bird. (I stamped the bird with ColorBox Black pigment ink and embossed it with superfine black powder.I embossed the feather from Creative Embellishments with a Lindy's embossing powder. I added a patterned paper background and called it done. It's pretty simple but I wanted the focus to be on the colored bird. The sparkle of the feather, though, adds just the right touch.

Thanks for the look-see!
