Make Your Mark Challenge #87

At the Addicted to Stamps challenge blog, the theme is to Make Your Mark which means you use coloring in your design. Coloring by marker, crayons, pencils...whatever you use to make your mark.

Having recently discovered this old Stampin' Up set, Garden Collage, I wanted to do some "watercoloring" with Distress Markers with the largest image. (This was a limited set by Stampin' Up and one of my very favorites!) This set of stamps really lends itself well to a watercolor look.

So here's what I did:

Watercolor card: I stamped the image onto watercolor paper (the smoother side) with Jet Black Archival ink (Ranger). I colored the image with various colors of Distress Markers doing some blending with a water brush. I tore the paper out and used a bit of blue marker along the edge to make it pop. I attached some patterned paper to the ivory card and stamped the sentiment on a small manilla tag. I went over the black words with the same blue marker and added the details.

It's pretty straight-forward. I just love the way the Distress Markers blend on watercolor paper. I even outlined the words in the background with a darker brown and then when I blended water over the top, the ink wicked out to give it a worn/fuzzy appearance.

Have a great week!
