Eureka Stamps: #80 Color Challenge

There is a new challenge over at Eureka Stamps. If you wonder why I'm obsessed with card/rubber stamping challenges of late, it's because I become eligible for a prize! And I really drool over some of the stamps at Eureka Stamps; especially the balloon holders and balloons!

The color palette was just gorgeous for this challenge.

So here's what I did for a Clean and Simple style card. (I'm practicing CAS style this week!)

Wishing you big smiles:  I love the look of pink and orange together...just call me a child of the '80's! I had actually experimented a few weeks ago with this color combo and these lovely flower stamps (Hot off the Press, Magical Birthday set). So decided to do a wide border with them. Added in the smallest little flower this time to fill in the white space between flowers. The sentiment (from the same set) says, "Wishing you big smiles today and all year long!".

I stamped in Jet Black Archival ink (Ranger) and colored with Distress markers. I used Worn Lipstick, Dried Marigold, Scattered Straw, Peeled Paint, and Crushed Olive. My first experiment using Picked Raspberry and Ripe Persimmon wasn't what I wanted. Those colors seemed far too bright for me and the pink and orange didn't blend as nicely as these did. (I just got the Seasonal colors of Distress Markers a week ago and I haven't yet found the circumstance to use them over the other colors of Distress. But that's a whole different blog post!)

Spring is coming...right after a big winter storm...I hope!
